Samsung, which released its flagship S22 series in February, is known for releasing phones with different chipsets in different parts of the world. For the most part, the audio specs stay the same across its flagship models. The release of the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) is no different.

Like on the Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos), the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) has two speakers producing “surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology.” Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus are included.

We put the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) through our rigorous DXOMARK Audio test suite to see whether Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset made any difference over Samsung’s own Exynos chip when it came to audio performance. We measured its performance both at recording sound using its built-in microphones, and at playing audio back through its speakers.

Key audio specifications include:

  • Two speakers: Top front, bottom side-firing
  • Dolby Atmos tuning
  • Enhanced Bluetooth connection
  • No jack

About DXOMARK Audio tests: For scoring and analysis in our smartphone audio reviews, DXOMARK engineers perform a variety of objective tests and undertake more than 20 hours of perceptual evaluation under controlled lab conditions. Samsung S22 Ultra (Snapdragon)

With a DXOMARK Audio overall score of 71, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Snapdragon) exactly matches the sound performance of the model’s Exynos version, placing the phone just outside the top 10 among the Ultra-Premium smartphones in our database, and on par with the scores of the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, and the Google Pixel 6 Pro. It is just one point behind its brand sibling, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, at 72.

Because both versions of the S22 Ultra have the same audio specifications and the scores are identical,  we direct you to the S22 Ultra (Exynos) Audio test results for the full details on the audio performance of the  S22 Ultra (Snapdragon).
